Problem: I am using Windows Vista, and I get an error message when opening First Class.

Windows Vista adds extra security with its User Account Control (UAC). If you are getting errors when you open First Class (such as "Component TABCTL32.OCX not correctly registered: file missing or invalid."), right-click on the program icon, choose Properties, then Compatibility, then click Run as Administrator. The program should run without an error from now on.

If that doesn't work, you should turn off the UAC, reboot, open First Class, turn on the UAC again, and reboot again. Specific instructions:

  1. Click on Start > Control Panel.
  2. Under User Account and Family Safety click on Add or remove user accounts.
  3. Click on one of the user accounts, for example you can use the Guest account.
  4. Under the user account click on the Go to the main User Accounts page link.

  5. Under Make changes to your user account click on the Change security settings link.
  6. Under Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure, "uncheck" the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer check box. Click on the Ok button.
  7. You will be prompted to reboot your computer. Do so when ready.
  8. When the computer reboots, open First Class. You should not get an error message at this time.
  9. In order to re-enable UAC, go through the same steps, but "check" the above checkbox and reboot.
  10. First Class should open without error messages now.
