Making Labels for Club Plant Sales

As you know, you can print labels with photos on Avery #5162 label stock, and affix the labels to bags of leaves. That way, the buyer can see what the plant looks like. However, if you're selling starter plants, affixing the label to the pot makes it difficult for the buyer to see the label without picking up the plant.

Barbara Pershing prints her labels on 67# cover stock. (You can buy it at Staples, OfficeMax, Office Depot, etc.) Then she cuts the labels with scissors or a paper cutter, and tapes them to coffee stirrer sticks, which can be inserted into the pot. She tried it with regular 20# paper, but she finds that it tends to curl, while the heavier cover stock does not.
